Principles of Logo Design

George Bokhua

How a mark is actually constructed: grids, circles, optical correction, and the long edit from sketch to symbol.

Why read it

Most logo books show you finished work and leave the construction a mystery. Bokhua opens the file. You see the underlying geometry, the places where a mathematically correct curve looks wrong and has to be nudged, and how many versions sit between a first sketch and a mark that holds at 16 pixels. The chapter on optical adjustment is the part no tutorial teaches.

Why own it

It is a manual, so you work with it open beside you rather than reading it through. The exercises are real ones: take a form, reduce it, test it small, correct it by eye.

Who it is for

Anyone drawing symbols who suspects their marks are close but not quite right.
