A skill that makes Claude write a tagline or campaign line the way a senior copywriter does, one stage at a time, with you choosing at each fork. It turns your positioning into a line brief that names the one thing the line must say and the facts it may lean on. It maps what your competitors' lines already say and builds three or four territories from your product and your customers' own words. Then it writes about 60 tagged lines across at least six line types, knocks out the weak ones, scores the rest out of 100 and writes a rationale card for each of three to five finalists.
Inside are five reference files: line types and territories, the tests and scorecard, logo lockups, claims and clearance, and a fully worked example for a fictional workwear brand. Every line is checked against the shape of about sixty famous slogans and against your rivals' current lines, so a borrowed line is caught before you fall for it. Regulated words such as Made in USA and organic carry their rules and sources, checked on 17 October 2026. Claude never calls a line available or clear. It never writes a line that states a fact you have not confirmed, and never invents reviews, rival lines or search results.
Claude cannot see the trademark register or run the people tests, so you run the searches and the tests it writes out, and paste the results back for it to read. The advertising and trademark material is written for the US, with notes on the new EU green-claims rules. With code execution switched on it counts words, characters and syllables exactly, totals the scores, and draws a lockup board with your own logo file. Bring a positioning, five to ten real customer reviews and your rivals' lines, and budget for an attorney before a brand line goes onto goods or signage.

02Your first message to ClaudeText Use the tagline writer skill. We need a [BRAND LINE OR CAMPAIGN LINE] for [BRAND NAME], which sells [WHAT YOU SELL] to [WHO BUYS IT]. It will sit [UNDER THE LOGO OR IN ADS ONLY] and run in [COUNTRIES AND LANGUAGES]. Our rivals say [THREE TO FIVE RIVAL LINES]. Start with the line brief and tell me what is missing.Attach your positioning or strategy deck, the logo file and five to ten real customer reviews copied word for word. Your rivals' current lines, copied from their sites, show Claude what your category already says.
Try this
Put your own tagline through four tests
Take your current tagline, or the three lines your team likes best. Write each one under three rival names in turn and read it aloud as "Rival. Line." Strip it to its skeleton by blanking the content words, and compare that shape with famous slogans. Underline every word that states or implies a fact. Then read it to five people who have not seen it and ask what it promises, writing their answers down word for word.
Time: 45 minutes. You need: Your tagline, or three candidate lines, three rivals and the lines they use now, copied from their sites, your spec sheets or any proof behind the facts the line implies, Five people who have not seen the lines.
Look for
- The line sounds wrong under at least two of the three rivals. If it fits all three, any rival could sign it.
- The skeleton does not match a famous slogan. "Just ___ it" or "Think ___" is a borrowed line, whatever words fill the gaps.
- Every underlined word traces to proof you hold today, such as a spec sheet or a test, and will stay true for the line's whole life.
- Three of five people describe the promise you meant. If they hear a different one, such as a laundry promise in a line about fit, the line says something else.
- It reads aloud in about two seconds, with one obvious stress, ending on a strong word.
- Under your logo it still reads at the smallest size it will print. If it would fall under 7 pt or 12 px, plan a version of the logo without it.
What to do it with
- ClaudeFree tier, paid above it
A language model that writes, edits, reads long documents and runs tools, including agents that work inside a codebase.
Bad at It is agreeable by default, so it will improve a bad idea instead of telling you it is bad. Ask it to argue against you and the quality of the answer changes.
- Claude CodeSubscription
An agent that reads a whole repository, edits files, runs the tests and explains what it changed.
Bad at It is fast enough to make a large mistake quickly. Work on a branch, read the diff, and never let it push. Watch the starting mode: on Pro, Max and Team plans it opens in auto mode, which Anthropic's own list says may read a .env file and send the key in it to the API that key belongs to. Switch it off.
- TMviewFree
Searches trademark registers across many countries at once, free.
Bad at It finds registrations, not unregistered rights, and reading the results properly is a lawyer's job.
Why it matters
Ask a chat for taglines and you get twenty lines any rival could sign. One may borrow the shape of a famous slogan, and another may promise something you cannot prove. This skill makes Claude fix the line's job before it writes a word. It writes wide across real territories, cuts with knockouts and a weighted score, and checks every line against famous slogans and your facts. So the line under your logo is one a rival would struggle to sign, and every fact in it is one you can prove.
