Prompts for a campaign

An art direction brief for a photographer or an image model

Lesson 6 of 8 in Prompts for a campaign.

Checked against the makers' documentation on 28 September 2026.

Lesson

This prompt writes the working brief for whoever makes the pictures: a photographer and stylist, an image model, or both. It starts with the look in one sentence. Light, colour, casting, styling and set, and camera follow, each written in terms somebody can act on. Then come eight kinds of reference to go and find, each with the one quality to take from it, and an anti-board of four things the work must not look like. It ends with rules that hold in every format and, if a model is making the pictures, one prompt paragraph per key frame.

An ink drawing of two pinboards on a wall, one with eight reference pictures linked to small cards and one with four pictures crossed out in red tape, with a photographer and a stylist looking on.
The crew's board pins eight references, each chosen for one quality to borrow. Beside it, an anti-board shows four looks the work must stay away from.
