Portfolio and case study writing

Lesson 10 of 11 in The practice.

Make A Case Study That Gets Client Work · The Futur
Lesson

Most design portfolios are galleries, and a gallery asks a prospective client to work out for themselves why the work is good. A case study does that work for them, and the difference in enquiries is not subtle.

A doodle of a puzzled visitor facing a wall of forty small images on the left, and a nodding visitor facing a four-panel story of a lost pack, research, a new pack and an emptying shelf on the right.
A wall of forty pretty pictures beside a four-panel story of the problem, the finding, the work and the result. The story tells a client why the work was good.
