Reference as a prompt

Lesson 9 of 10 in Moodboards and references.

Lesson

Everything this module teaches about reading a reference is now directly operational, because a machine will take a reference as an instruction. Taking an image apart into light, structure and treatment used to be only an analytical exercise. Now it also tells you which kind of reference to give the model, and so which method to use.

An ink drawing of two pinned prints of the same kitchen corner, identical except that a blue jug in the first becomes a green bottle in the second.
The whole scene held exactly while only the object on the table changes.
