Prop styling

Lesson 6 of 11 in Styling.

Lesson

Prop styling is the quiet craft that makes a product photograph look like a world rather than an object on a table. It is mostly about restraint: every prop has to earn its place by saying something the product cannot say about itself.

An ink drawing of a stylist's hands lifting a large fruit bowl away from a small glass bottle and setting a small stone dish in its place.
Swapping an oversized bowl so the small bottle beside it looks precious.
