Colour and paint on set

Lesson 5 of 11 in Set design.

Lesson

Paint on a set behaves differently from paint in a room, because a studio light is far harder than daylight and finds every imperfection in the surface underneath. Scenic paint is matt for exactly this reason.

An ink drawing of a scenic painter rolling terracotta paint onto the studio floor in front of a matching painted wall while a camera waits on a tripod.
Painting the studio floor to match the wall because the camera sees both.
