The cyclorama, the sweep and the tabletop

Lesson 3 of 11 in Set design.

Lesson

Three standard arrangements cover most studio photography. A cyclorama for full-length work, where the space behind a person has to read as endless and a visible corner would ruin it. A paper sweep for the same thing at a tenth of the cost. A tabletop for anything you can lift.

An ink drawing of a peach paper roll curving from a high pole down to the studio floor with a model standing on it and an assistant taping down the front edge.
A paper sweep curves from wall to floor so the corner disappears.
