What to fix now and what to fix after

Lesson 9 of 11 in Shoot direction.

Lesson

Every decision on set is also a decision about the retouching bill, and most people do not notice they are making it. A crease left in a backdrop is twenty minutes of retouching on every frame that contains it.

An ink drawing of an assistant steaming a crease in a linen backdrop and another brushing dust off a glass jar while the photographer waits at the tripod.
Steaming out a crease on set before it costs retouching on every frame.
