Monograms

Lesson 6 of 18 in Identity systems.

Monogram Logo Design: A Quick Course for Beginners · Arek Dvornechuck
Lesson

A monogram is what you reach for when the name is too long to be a wordmark at small size and you do not want to spend years teaching an abstract shape. It borrows recognition from letters people already know, which is a genuine head start.

A lockup with its symbol, wordmark, descriptor and clear space named.
A doodle of an arch and a loop at the top, with arrows leading to a single fused black figure on the left and the same two shapes interlaced like chain links on the right.
Two shapes either melt into one figure, as in a monogram, or weave through each other and stay whole, as in a cypher, where each letter can still be read.
