The words in a contract

Lesson 8 of 11 in Terminology.

Common Contract Terms You Need to Understand · Ayers Law TV ~ Andrew M. Ayers, Esq.
Lesson

Contract vocabulary is the part of the job designers most want to skip and least can afford to. Two words carry most of the risk: assignment and licence.

A doodle of a designer handing a framed drawing and key to a client on the left, and on the right keeping the drawing while giving the client a pass beside a small fenced map area and a sand timer.
Handing over the work itself is an assignment. Letting someone use it inside a fenced area for a set time, while you keep it, is a licence.
