Trim Size, Bleed, and Safe Zones · Jason Ford
Lesson

This is the list a designer wants at nine in the evening with a deadline at nine in the morning. Getting these right is the difference between a job that runs and a job that comes back.

Bleed, trim and safe area on a page, with the image running past the trim.
A doodle of two orange sheets under a guillotine blade, one with colour running past the trim line giving a clean cut card, one without, giving a card with a thin white edge.
A sheet whose background runs past the trim line cuts cleanly. Without that extra bleed, a blade landing slightly off leaves a thin white edge.
