Air India's new mark is a gold arc drawn as a gradient. What does that cost the airline in production that the old swan did not?
- It has to be redrawn or dropped every time the identity meets embroidery, a thermal-printed boarding pass or a one-colour stamp
- It cannot hold its shape once it is enlarged to the size of a tailfin
- It pushes the airline back to running several different reds across the system
- It cannot sit with the Devanagari without breaking the lockup
Question 2, locked
Zomato's 2013 logo was a white rounded sans on a red square, and it did the job. What was wrong with it anyway?
- Nothing in the letterforms was proprietary, so swapping the word would have turned it into a payments app
- Red is hard to defend for a food brand and the square made that worse
- The rounded terminals broke up at notification size
- The lowercase read as casual while the company was selling reliability

The 2018 Burberry wordmark is well made and it solved real problems. Why does the lesson still count it a loss?
- The central object became a typeface, which a house licenses rather than owns, so Burberry joined a category
- The weight was uneven and the counters closed up at small sizes
- It could not be turned into the repeating pattern the bags and the scarves needed
- It threw away the TB monogram, the one asset nobody else could use
