Packaging composition

Lesson 26 of 27 in Composition and layout.

How to create a Product Packaging Design · Abi Connick
Lesson

Packaging composition differs from every other kind because the surface is not flat and the viewer is not looking at it straight on. A pack is a three-dimensional object seen from an angle, partly obscured by its neighbours, usually below or above eye level.

gluesolid · cutdashed · folddrawn flat, from the outside · panels read mirrored
A carton dieline with cut lines, fold lines and a glue flap.
A shopper looking down a long shelf of colourful boxes, and a close view of her hand turning a green box to read its side panel.
A shopper spots a pack by its colour from across the aisle, then turns it in her hand to read the side. A pack has to work from far away and up close.
