Type as the whole image

Lesson 6 of 10 in Poster design.

Lesson

A poster with no picture has to make the words carry everything, which turns out to be a strength rather than a limitation. Type at scale is an image, and a single word set very large is one of the most arresting things you can put on a wall.

An ink drawing of a street poster filled by three giant black cropped shapes, with a man leaning in to read a small cluster of grey lines in the corner.
Giant black shapes and tiny lines that pull a reader in close.
