Japanese poster design

Lesson 5 of 10 in Poster design.

Lesson

Japanese poster design developed its own answers to the same questions, and the most useful one to learn from is the treatment of emptiness. Space is placed as deliberately as the elements are, and it does work.

An ink drawing of a tall poster in a quiet corridor, mostly empty paper with one small fish near the bottom and a thin vertical column of grey marks, while a visitor sits on a bench below.
A tall poster where the empty paper is placed on purpose.
