Ad creative that stops a scroll

Lesson 5 of 11 in Social and content design.

Checked against the makers' documentation on 9 October 2026.

Lesson

An ad is shown to people who did not choose to follow you, in the same feed as their friends' posts. That makes the glance test harder. Meta's help page on text in ads says so in one line. 'Communicating what you want people to do at a glance is the most important goal of your ad.' Everything in this lesson follows from that sentence. Whose is it, what is it, and what should I do next have to be answered by the picture before anyone reads a word around it.

  1. Question 1, locked

Which lengths does Meta recommend for an ad's primary text, headline and description?

    • 125, 40 and 25 characters
    • 150, 70 and 30 characters
    • 90, 30 and 20 characters
    • 280, 60 and 40 characters
  2. Question 2, locked

What happened to Facebook's old 20% limit on text in ad images?

    • It still gets ads with more text refused
    • It was raised to 40% in 2020
    • It now applies to Stories only
    • Facebook stopped penalising ads for it in 2020
  3. Question 3, locked

No. 4 never uses the words miracle or flawless. What does the lesson say to do about Advantage+ creative enhancements?

    • Leave them on, since Meta already checks a brand's words
    • Read every placement in the ad preview and switch off text generation if needed
    • Use them only for Stories
    • Put the banned words in the primary text so Meta avoids them
