Type that reads on a phone

Lesson 6 of 11 in Social and content design.

Checked against the makers' documentation on 9 October 2026.

Lesson

A post is designed large and read small. A 1080 pixel frame is shown across the width of a phone, so a line that looked generous at 100 per cent on a monitor arrives in the hand a good deal smaller. Phones differ in size and sharpness, and there is no single conversion from pixels on the canvas to size in the hand that holds for all of them. The only reliable test is a type ladder, the same line set at several sizes, exported and read on a real phone.
