A diffusion model starts every clip as random noise and removes it step by step, and the seed is the number that picks which noise. Same seed, same noise. On its own that proves little, because the clip also depends on the prompt, the settings, the model's exact weights, the software and the graphics card, and the seed controls none of those. We made that starting noise in PyTorch twice with seed 42 and once with seed 43, and the two 42s matched to the last digit.
