Reading a generated image for the tells

Lesson 12 of 12 in AI image making.

How to Spot Fake AI Photos | Hany Farid | TED · TED
Lesson

Train yourself to check the same seven places and you will catch most faults in under a minute. Hands and where they touch. Eyes, and whether both catch the light from the same place. Teeth. Text at full size. Shadows, and whether they agree. Reflections, and whether they contain the room. Anything that repeats.

A person smiling and holding a glass in front of a brick wall. Six magnified circles around the picture, linked by thin lines, show close-ups of the fingers, eyes, teeth, the glass's shadow, its reflection and a patch of identical repeating bricks.
Six places to look, every time. Most generated faults hide in one of them.
