Reference locking

Lesson 7 of 10 in AI and brand consistency.

Character Consistency Using Image References | Magnific Academy - AI Suite Fundamentals · Magnific
Lesson

A reference lock is a fixed set of approved images that every job starts from. You decide which images define the look, you freeze them, and every job is conditioned on that frozen set rather than on whatever the art director found last week.

A glass-fronted wall cabinet holds four prints in a row, closed with a padlock whose key hangs on a hook nearby. Below, two freelancers at separate desks each work from copies of the same four prints pinned above them.
Four frames under lock. Everyone works from them, and changing them is a decision, not an accident.
