A brief an agent can carry out has five parts, and each answers a question the agent would otherwise answer by guessing. The goal says what should exist afterwards. The inputs name the files and facts it starts from, the constraints say what it must not do, the definition of done says how you will both know it worked, and the budget says what it may spend, in money and in renders. Anthropic's best-practice page opens with the definition of done, phrased as giving the agent a check it can run, because in its words Claude stops when the work looks done.
