Disclosure, and when to say it was generated

Lesson 6 of 11 in Rights, ethics and the argument.

Ep 366: How to Label AI-Generated Content: EU Commission Guidelines · AI With Joanne
Lesson

Rules are arriving unevenly. Several advertising regulators already treat a misleading depiction as misleading whatever produced it, some platforms label synthetic media automatically, and legislation in several places requires disclosure in specific contexts such as political advertising.

A brochure lies open on a luggage rack, showing a large, sunny hotel room. A guest with a suitcase stands in the doorway of the real room, which is much smaller and plainer, looking from the brochure to the room.
Would the guest feel misled? That is the test for when to say an image was generated.
