Node graphs and reproducible steps

Lesson 3 of 10 in AI creative workflows.

ComfyUI Tutorial for Beginners: Full Node Graph Basics (2026) · ComfyUI
Lesson

A node graph makes a pipeline visible. Instead of a sequence of clicks in somebody's memory, there is a diagram where each operation is a box with named inputs, and changing one thing is a wire rather than a rewrite.

Seven pipeline steps with a person standing at the brief, the selection and the approval.
A wall of small wooden boxes, each holding one tool such as a lens, brush, magnifier, paint pot or scissors, joined by coloured cords. One group of boxes sits inside a larger lidded box. A person plugs in a single cord.
What you see is what runs. Change one cord, and box up the rest so it stays readable.
