Upscaling and finishing generated footage

Lesson 7 of 10 in AI video.

Video AI - Frame Interpolation · Topaz Labs
Lesson

Generated clips arrive at awkward sizes and rates and with a characteristic shimmer. Finishing is the pass that makes them a film once the edit is locked: conform everything, deflicker, upscale, grade, add grain, mix, deliver.

The finishing order for generated footage: conform, deflicker, upscale, grade, add grain, cut and mix, deliver; deflicker comes before upscaling.
A shimmering, wobbly strip of film runs along a bench. It passes between two heavy rollers that flatten and steady it, then under a large magnifying lens that enlarges the now calm frames, before winding onto a reel.
Steady it first, then enlarge it. Swap the order and the magnifier enlarges the shimmer.
