Shot length, and editing around the limits

Lesson 4 of 10 in AI video.

How Does an Editor Think and Feel? · Every Frame a Painting
Lesson

A generated film is an editing problem before it is a generation problem. If shots are reliable at three seconds and unreliable at eight, the film is cut in threes, and that constraint should be in the board rather than discovered in the timeline.

An editor's hands hold a strip of film and scissors, cutting at the frame where a runner's foot leaves the ground. On the bench below lies a short strip showing a close-up of a hand on a door handle.
Cut mid-stride and slip in the short close-up. The join disappears into the movement.
