Designing interfaces that contain a model

Lesson 8 of 11 in AI for interface design.

Emily Campbell - AI UX Deep Dive · Dive Club 🤿
Lesson

Putting a model inside a product breaks three assumptions interface design was built on. The same action may not give the same result. The result takes seconds. And the result may be confidently wrong, which no error handler catches.

A drawing of a house on an easel has a crooked roof. A person fixes only the roof with a pencil and eraser. A ruler, a tracing sheet and a small rewind crank sit on the easel's ledge, while a pair of dice lies unused on the floor.
Fix the crooked roof, not the whole house. Good tools hand you the eraser, not just the dice.
