What is Hugging Face? - Models, Datasets & Spaces · Hugging Face
Lesson

A model card is the README of a model's repository. The top of the file is metadata in a format called YAML, which Hugging Face turns into the tags, the task label and the licence badge you see above the text. Everything under that is prose written by whoever uploaded the model, so it is as current as their last edit and no more. Take Wan's 5B card as the example. Its page, huggingface.co/Wan-AI/Wan2.2-TI2V-5B, carries the badge apache-2.0 and the task Text-to-Video.

The parts of a Hugging Face model card and what each one tells you: the licence tag is typed by the uploader, files and versions shows the real size, the use-this-model snippet can be wrong, the model tree lists smaller copies.

A model card is the label pinned to the crate: useful, typed by someone, and sometimes out of date.
