Character consistency across shots

Lesson 5 of 10 in AI video.

Consistent AI Characters, Voices and Scenes (Advanced Workflow) | Runway · Runway
Lesson

The hardest thing in generated film is the same person twice. Faces drift, clothing changes, hair moves, and a viewer who could not describe continuity will feel the scene fall apart.

A costume rail with a jacket that has three buttons and a wide collar. Two film frames of a man talking are pinned beside it. In the second frame his jacket has only two buttons and a narrow collar, and an assistant points at it with a pencil.
Count the buttons. The jacket changed between shots, and viewers feel it before they notice it.
